This exciting one-year taught Masters degree provides a broad-based foundation in the musical and multimedia applications of acoustics and audio technology. The programme developed out of a long standing collaboration in teaching and research between music and the sciences at the University of Edinburgh, and offers a unique opportunity to combine studies of the creative applications of modern music technology with a solid grounding in the underlying scientific principles.
The degree aims to provide a rich cross-disciplinary programme, within which students develop skills in the interdisciplinary area of music, acoustics and audio technology. The emphasis is on science, computers, and technology in the context of musical and multimedia applications. Graduates will have a thorough understanding of the appropriate technologies and the science underlying them, as well as an understanding of their role in a wider creative arts environment.
