MathAssess and FETLAR
The MathAssess project developed extensions to existing open-source software implementing the QTI (Question and Test Interoperability) specification in order to add enhanced support for mathematics, such as rendering of equations and the use of Computer Algebra Systems to judge student responses and generate randomised questions. These new assessment tools then became part of the arsenal for the FETLAR (Finding Electronic Teaching Learning and Assessment Resources) project, which aimed to encourage and enable the open sharing of educational resources.
MathAssess started in October 2008 and ended in March 2009 and was funded by JISC.
FETLAR ran from May 2009 until April 2010 and was the MSOR community's bid through the Subject Centre strand for the Open Educational Resources (OER) call from HEFCE/JISC.
