Edinburgh Renaissance Band

The Thistle and the Rose

We welcome back the Edinburgh Renaissance Band. This will be another spectacular event with ten band members playing cornetts, sackbuts, shawms, crumhorns, recorders, gemshorns, curtal, lute and viol. The programme is entitled "The Thistle and the Rose" and will explore the turbulent 16th Century in vocal and instrumental music from the Scottish and English courts and chapels.

It will be a wonderful concert to round off our the semester. I hope you can join us.

... a few words from the outgoing musicinkb master of publicity ...

Dear all,

As several of you will know, for the last years I have been running the Music in KB publicity, designing the posters and maintaining the web site. Since this January 2009 I have now left Edinburgh for Gießen university in Germany.

For a transition period I am happy to still maintain the web site, but from across the Channel and with new obligations on me I am no longer able to provide the level of TLC the website needs and musicinkb deserves.

Hence we need someone to join the ranks of volunteers who shall keep the web site up to date. Ideally that person would be someone in Physics, as the pages already reside there and it would be straightforward to set up editing access from a physics computer account.

Anyone among the Friends of KB Music who would be willing to do this would be most welcome, so please get in touch with one of the volunteers remaining on Scottish soil, Bill or Patricia come to my mind, to discuss the details.

I wish Music-in-KB a very bright future

Klaus

The Friends of KB Music are a group of people who wish to bring professional standard musical concerts to The King's Buildings. We are arranging free Wednesday lunchtime concerts in the Glass Arcade of the Scottish Agricultural College and hope for a large audience to enjoy these concerts.

All concerts are held from 1.05 to 1.55 p.m. in the Glass Arcade, Scottish Agricultural College, The King's Buildings.

The concert programme is supported by the College of Science and Engineering, the Scottish Agricultural college, and your donations and subscriptions as "Friends" of Music in KB.

Although there is no admission charge for concerts, we do rely absolutely on Friends' subscriptions to balance the books. The annual subscription, remaining at £12 and half price for students, continues to represent excellent value and you are very strongly encouraged to subscribe. So join the Friends of KB Music now.
