Particle Physics Experiment Group

Current Activities of the Particle Physics Experiment (PPE) Group

The Particle Physics Experiment group is participating four particle physics projects: ATLAS, LHCb, BaBar and GridPP

ATLAS

ATLAS is a particle physics experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. ATLAS aims to study the origin of mass, extra dimensions of space, microscopic black holes, and evidence for dark matter candidates in the universe.

LHCb

LHCb is a Beauty experiment at the Large Hadron collider at CERN for precision measurement of CP violation and rare decays of B hadrons.

GridPP

GridPP is a collaboration of particle physicists and computer scientists from the UK and CERN. We are building a distributed computing Grid across the UK for particle physicis.

BaBar

BaBar is an experiment at the PEP-II asymmetric B factory at SLAC, studying CP violation and rare decays of B mesons.

ILC

Detector research and design for a future linear collider is a long term interest of the group. The aim of the ILC is to measure very precisely the properties of the Higgs boson and any new particles that may exist.
