IOP 1/2 day meeting on Neutron skins
University of Liverpool : Wednesday 15th  November, 2006.

We warmly welcome you to this 1/2 day meeting on research into neutron skins and halos. The meeting will bring together various groups in the UK community and guest speakers from overseas  whose research involves investigation of the the distribution of neutrons in stable and radioactive nuclei using ion, electron and photon probes. The topic of the meeting has important implications for nuclear structure physics, the equation of state for neutron rich matter and astrophysics.

Preliminary schedule is shown below.

14:00   Welcome and introductory remarks (?)

14:10   Overview and nuclear structure calculations of neutron skins and halos (P. Stevenson, Surrey, UK)

15:00   Neutron skins from parity violating electron scattering (G. Urciuoli, INFN, Rome)

15:45 - 16:15    Tea / Coffee

16:15 Proton scattering measurements at GSI and future prospects at FAIR and NUSTAR (P. Egelhof, GSI, Germany)

17:00  Investigating neutron skins and halo distributions using photon probes  (C. Tarbert, Edinburgh, UK)

17:30 End of meeting
