| Recoil polarimetry Project | |||

The Edinburgh recoil polarimeter provides information on the spin direction of recoiling protons following photoinduced reactions on nuclei and nucleons. The device will enable the first measurements of various beam recoil double polarisation observables in pion, eta meson, multipion production channels as well as in deuterium photodisintegration. These will give new observables to tackle long standing ambiguities in the excitation spectrum of the nucleon and in the evolution of quark degrees of freedom in the deuteron. |

The Phase-I polarimeter in position within the Crystal Ball detector is shown in the figure above. The components of the polarimeter are shown by the blue and purple pieces. This device has been succesfully commisioned. Preliminary results and further description can be seen in the various conference talks below. | |||
