eSI theme: "Modelling and Microbiology"

In 2010-2011 I led a one-year research theme at the e-Science Institute, entitled "Modelling and Microbiology", together with Dov Stekel and Jamie Wood. The aim of this theme was to bring together microbiologists and modellers to discuss productive avenues for future collaborative research. You can find out more about this from our theme proposal and theme wiki. In September 2010 we held a workshop on stochastic effects in microbial infection. You can find a report on our findings here. In January 2011, we held a workshop on modelling microbial evolution. Here is a draft report of our findings. In April 2011 we held our third workshop, on modelling metabolic networks. Jamie Wood is currently working on the report of that workshop. As a grand finale, we held a research conference on "Modelling and Microbiology", on July 4-7 2011 at the e-science Institute in South College Street, Edinburgh. This conference was attended by 55 delegates and involved lots of lively discussion.
