Soft Matter Physics & Materials

Principal investigator

Dr. Job H. J. Thijssen

Job is a Lecturer in the School of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Edinburgh (UK). His research focusses on the physics and application of soft materials, especially those in which interfaces are crucial and those that have potential for applications in coatings and energy materials. Examples include, but are not limited to: particle-stabilized emulsions, colloidal crystals and bijels. He supervises several PhD students (see below) and is involved in undergraduate teaching and supervision, including Research Methods in Physics, Career Development Internships, Senior Honours projects and MPhys projects. Since August 2016, he is also the School's Director of Equality and Diversity.
