How to make a Booking Request
Description of how to make Booking Requests.
In COSMIC it is the practice to offer bookings for the Common User Facilities on a quarterly basis, and also to accept Booking Requests at any time for any remaining available booking times in the current quarter. The Common User Facilities are:
- BioRad Radiance 2100 Confocal Microscope (Confocal Lab, Rm 2321B)
- Optical Tweezers (Confocal Lab, Rm 2321B)
- Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy with the Europhoton Quandrant Anode Detector or LaVision time-gated CCD camera (FLIM/FLS Lab, Rm 2321A)
- Fluorescence Lifetime Spectroscopy with the Edinburgh Instruments fluorescence spectrometer (FLIM/FLS Lab, Rm 2321A)
If you would like to reserve time, then please submit a Booking Request form, as follows:
- Go to your "my folder".
- Under the "add item" menu, choose "Booking Request".
- Fill in the form, and click on the "Save" button at the bottom. (Please note, the "Title" field refers to your project/investigation title, not your personal title!)
The result will be a new "Booking
Request" item stored in your "my folder". If you wish, you can make a
new folder to store all your Booking Requests, choose the "add item
--> folder" menu command, and then use the "actions" menu to
cut/paste your Booking Request into that folder.
To delete a
Booking Request, just go to "my folder", and click on the "contents"
tab. Select the Booking Request you wish to delete by putting a tick in
the box next to it, and then click on the "delete" button at the bottom.
You
can also edit the Booking Request by going to "my folder" and clicking
on the Booking Request you wish to edit, and then clicking on the edit
tab.
Note that if you are starting a new project, you will also need to complete a Safety Assessment form. You must clearly indicate the location of any Risk Assessment forms related to your work.
All
Booking Requests will be seen and processed by the site Administrator
using a "smart folder" that shows all Booking Request items created on
the site. Bookings will appear on the Calendar.
If you have any questions, please contact the Lab Manager.
