I am a biology PhD student jointly supervised by Nick Read (Biology) and Wilson Poon (Physics). My project set out to evaluate the technique of optical tweezers for fungal research. We are now using the tweezers to experimentally micromanipuate fungal spores and hyphae to investigate key aspects of their cell biology.
