New fluorescent labels for proteins on surfaces
As part of a multidisciplinary project on detection and screening of protein residues on surgical instruments we are developing fluorescence probes which are highly fluorescent when bound to protein and essentially non-fluorescent (much reduced quantum yield and hence much reduced fluorescence lifetime) when unbound.
